What to do if Amazon has suspended your account (step-by-step guide).

10 June 2026 · 6 min · by Sergio Nolasco

Receiving the email 'your account has been deactivated' can cause panic: you have money, stock, and your business at stake. Breathe. What you do in the first few hours can significantly influence the outcome. This is the guide we provide to our clients.

Step 1: Do not respond in the heat of the moment

The first impulse is to respond immediately, angrily or pleadingly. This is the worst mistake. Every message counts, and an improvised plan can close doors.

Take the time to understand exactly what Amazon is asking for before responding.

Step 2: Read Amazon's message calmly

The suspension email contains the key: the reason (verification, authenticity, performance, association, policies...) and sometimes the required documentation. Identifying the type of block accurately determines the entire strategy.

Step 3: Gather information, but do not send it yet

Gather the account history, affected ASINs, your invoices, and any previous communication with Amazon. Having the case organised is essential for building a solid Plan of Action.

Step 4: Identify the root cause

Before writing anything, ask yourself: what really caused this? The honest answer is the foundation of the appeal. If you're not sure, a professional can help you find it.

Step 5: Draft a specific plan of action

Set out the root cause, what you have already corrected and what you will do to reduce the risk of recurrence. The plan and its evidence form part of the case Amazon reviews.

Step 6: Act quickly but effectively

Time is of the essence, but a precise Plan of Action is more valuable than a rushed and sloppy one. If you're unsure, now is the time to seek help: a rejection makes the next attempt more difficult.
