How to write a Plan of Action (POA) for Amazon

28 May 2026 · 8 min · by Sergio Nolasco

A Plan of Action (POA) organises the explanation of an issue and the measures taken. Amazon assesses the complete case and the specific request; this structure helps present the information clearly.

The three-block structure

A clear POA is usually organised into three parts: the root cause, corrective actions already completed and preventive measures for the future. Evidence should support the relevant statements.

Block 1: Root cause

Explain what caused the problem and which part was under your control. The cause should be consistent with the notice, the account data and the measures you present.

Block 2: Corrective actions (already taken)

What you have already done to resolve the specific issue. In the past tense and with evidence: 'I have removed ASIN X', 'I have obtained valid invoices from my supplier Y'. Each statement, supported by a document.

Block 3: Preventive actions (for the future)

What you will change in your operations to prevent it from happening again. Processes, controls, periodic reviews. Here, you demonstrate that you are a reliable seller in the long term.

Errors that sink a POA

Generic text, blaming third parties, making promises without proof, writing too much, not attaching documentation in the correct format. Any of these can undermine an otherwise solid plan.

Would you prefer that your POA is written by someone who does it daily? Tell us your case and we will prepare it with you.
